1. Draw the shape of the pineapple
Hello fruit fans, it’s time for another art lesson. Today we will learn to draw a tropical pineapple.
You will need a pencil, eraser, marker and some colours.
Let’s begin… pineapples are oval shaped so this cartoon pineapple drawing will be too.
Think of a large Easter Egg, yeah that’s it.
Let’s find the centre line because our pineapple character is going to be wearing a pair of funky sunglasses.
-
2. Add a pair of sunglasses
It’s hot and tropical in pineapple land so why not?!
Our sunglasses will have a thin rim around the lenses, which will both be the same size.
One sitting either side of where you might find a nose.
If you made any pencil markings to guide you, feel free to run them out with an eraser.
-
3. Give your pineapple a hairstyle
Now here’s the fun part.
Our little, cute pineapple needs some leaves.
This set of leaves is spikey, like a punk rocker haircut.
You might also see leaves like this on a palm tree on a desert island.
Draw four of five poking out of the top of the pineapple.
Then we need to add a short smile in the middle, and that’s how you draw a tropical pineapple guys!
-
4. Grab a marker or felt tip pen
Part two now, let’s add some stronger outlines to our illustration using a black marker.
Or you can do this part with a felt tip pen or black pencil.
For our pineapple shell, we can make the outline a little jagged, because this effect makes the piece of fruit look more spikey and prickly all over - it’s a neat art trick.
Hey art fans, did you know that the pineapple is a fruit that first came from Brazil but is now grown in many places around the world.
And a single pineapple like the one we are drawing today can take up to two years to fully grow.
Amazing, huh!

5. Colour in your drawing
On to the last part of our art piece, and this is fairly easy to do, guys and girls.
Take your colours - whether that’s a set of pencil, pens, chalks or pastels, and bring this pineapple character sketch to life.
What colour is a tropical pineapple?
Well typically yellow and orange for the main part, and if you want to make it look more spikey then add a few criss-cross patterns over the top.
That’s a nice effect.
Green for the leaves, add brown if you want to get creative!
Don;t forget to colour in the sunglasses too!
